Bruce Springsteen labels Donald Trump’s latest controversial move an “American tragedy”

Bruce Springsteen has condemned President Donald Trump over the formation of his new Anti-Weaponisation Fund.

Earlier this month, the US Justice Department announced it would be using $1.8 billion of taxpayers’ money to pay for the controversial Anti-Weaponisation Fund.

The $1.8 billion fund will be used for allies of Trump who claim they have been unfairly investigated by authorities, including those who stormed the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.

The timing also raised eyebrows in some quarters, as the new fund was created shortly after Trump dropped his $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over the leaking of his tax returns.

When Springsteen’s Land of Hope and Dreams tour stopped through Washington DC on Wednesday evening (May 27th), he used it as an opportunity to make his feelings clear to all regarding Trump’s latest move.

Per Billboard, ‘The Boss’ told fans, “We have a president who wants to create a $1.8 billion fund to compensate and reward people who attacked our nation’s capitol.”

Springsteen continued to lambast the regime, adding, “Attacked our democracy. Assaulted our police officers on Jan. 6. This is an American outrage, and this is happening now.”

To a rapturous applause, he then called upon the crowd to stand up to the administration, stating, “This American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people.”

The ‘Streets of Minneapolis’ singer continued, “There is no one coming to save us. We’ve got to do it ourselves… Let them hear you at the fucking White House!”

As of writing, the White House has not yet responded to Springsteen’s latest comments on the new fund.

Only last week, on the penultimate episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Springsteen used his national platform to speak out against Trump, telling viewers, “Stephen, I’m here in support tonight of Stephen because you’re the first guy in America who’s lost his show because we’ve got a president who can’t take a joke. And because Larry and David Ellison feel they need to kiss his ass to get what they want.”

Earlier this year, Trump urged his supporters to boycott ‘The Boss’ following comments he made about him at a live show.

The president wrote on Truth Social on April 2nd, “Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon, has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
