“BREAKING: Packers’ Xavier McKinney Bags Another Award While Josh Jacobs Faces a Shocking Snub!”

Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) has released on Monday its annual list of All-NFL, All-AFC, and All-NFC teams. Safety Xavier McKinney has made the All-NFL and All-NFC teams, adding more awards to a special season for the defensive back.

The free agent addition had also been named a Pro Bowler by the NFL, a First-Team All-Pro by AP (the award the league considers as official), and a First-Team All-Pro by the NFLPA.

It’s the first time in his career that McKinney is named the PFWA’s All-NFL safety. Detroit Lions‘ Kerby Joseph is the other safety on the list.

Snubbed

You could certainly understand why it happened, but running back Josh Jacobs didn’t make the list—not even the NFC-exclusive one.

For the All-NFL team, predictably, Philadelphia Eagles’ Saquon Barkley and Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry were chosen. In addition to Barkley, the other back names to the NFC team was Jahmyr Gibbs, from the Detroit Lions.

Gibbs finished the season with 1,929 scrimmage yards and 20 total touchdowns, while Jacobs had 1,671 scrimmage yards and 16 touchdowns.

Jacobs was named to the Pro Bowl, though, alongside edge defender Rashan Gary.

Another potential Packers’ snub was right tackle Zach Tom. However, the competition there was tough too, and it brought an interesting consequence.

Detroit Lions’ Penei Sewell made both the All-NFL and All-NFC teams. But Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Tristan Wirfs made the All-NFL team as the other tackle, while the All-NFC second tackle was Philadelphia Eagles’ Lane Johnson.

The PFWA has selected an All-NFL team since 1966, and All-AFC and All-NFC teams since 1992. The PFWA conducts separate voting ballots open to all members for the All-NFL, All-AFC and All-NFC teams.
