“I WILL NOT LET THEM BE FORGOTTEN…” — Bruce Springsteen silenced the entire auditorium with his poignant tribute in Minneapolis.

Posted on April 6, 2026 By ano nymous

“I WILL NOT LET THEM BE FORGOTTEN…” — Bruce Springsteen silenced the entire auditorium with his poignant tribute in Minneapolis. The concert was supposed to be just the beginning of a tour… but everything came to a standstill when Bruce stood still under the lights, mentioning Renee Good and Alex Pretti—two people who tragically passed away, leaving the entire city in pain. No special effects, no noise—just his deep voice and “Streets of Minneapolis,” a song he wrote in just a few days to preserve their memory. The entire arena was gradually dimmed by the light of cell phones, thousands of people fell silent and then softly sang along… In that moment, music ceased to be entertainment—it became pain, remembrance, and a promise not to forget. The concert ended… but the echoes lingered for a long time.

Bruce Springsteen opened his highly anticipated 2026 tour with a powerful and emotional tribute to two Minnesota lives lost earlier this year during federal immigration enforcement actions in Minneapolis.

At the tour kick-off show on Tuesday night at the Target Center, The Boss paused to remember Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three who was fatally shot, and Alex Pretti, a dedicated VA nurse who was also killed. Both incidents occurred amid heightened ICE operations in the city.

Speaking directly to the audience, Springsteen said: “Minnesota, you gave us hope. You gave us courage. And for those who gave their lives, Renee Good, mother of three, brutally murdered, and Alex Pretti, VA nurse, executed by ICE and left to die in the street without even the decency of our lawless government investigating their deaths. Their bravery, their sacrifice, and their names will not be forgotten.”

The moment was met with a mix of silence and respectful applause from the crowd. Springsteen has previously honored the pair through his protest song “Streets of Minneapolis”, which he wrote and released in direct response to the shootings.

The tribute highlighted Springsteen’s long-standing tradition of using his platform to address social and political issues, turning the concert into more than just a night of rock ‘n’ roll — it became a statement of solidarity with the people of Minneapolis.

Fans in attendance described the moment as moving and powerful, with many noting that Springsteen’s words carried extra weight given the recent “No Kings” rally in St. Paul where he also performed the song.

As The Boss continues his tour, this opening night in Minneapolis will likely be remembered not only for the music, but for the human stories he chose to keep alive on stage.
